With years of experience in sports medicine and musculoskeletal care, Dr. Benson has helped improve the lives of countless athletes, from weekend warriors to professional-level players. A native of Detroit, he has worked with the Detroit Predators, Michigan State University Athletics (Soccer, Track and Field, Wrestling and Basketball), and the Lansing Lugnuts. Since moving to Richmond in 2008, he has served as a team physician for Longwood University, the Anthem Richmond Marathon and Chesterfield County Public Schools, and has been a weekly contributor as a sports medicine consultant to NBC12 Neighborhood Health Watch.
Dr. Benson’s education includes a primary care sports medicine fellowship from Michigan State University/Sparrow Hospital and a certificate of added qualifications (CAQ) in sports medicine. He is a member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine, the Old Dominion Medical Society, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Society of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
